Reading Recovery: Every Child a Reader Project
Reading Recovery provides the best value and best outcomes for children, teachers and schools. Reading Recovery has proved its effectiveness for more than ten years in the UK, in helping the very lowest six-year olds to become capable readers and writers.
Three quarters of them achieve level 2 in SATs at the end of KS1 and these gains are sustained through KS2! Not only does it achieve huge success with children, it also trains teachers to become early literacy experts, who can act as a resource for colleagues and as mentors for TAs delivering ELS and other interventions. It enables schools to raise achievement by drastically reducing the numbers of non-readers. Reading Recovery uses teachers' professionalism to change children's lives.
