Paired Writing is a structured method for one-to-one tutoring in process writing by peers, parents, classroom assistants or volunteers. Writing can be functional or creative, in any language, at any level.
Paired Writing is individualised and cross-curricular. It can operate successfully on a cross-ability or same-ability basis, fixed-role or reciprocal-role. It can be done with selected individuals or on a whole class basis. Implemented properly, it has been proven in primary schools to improve the quality of subsequent independent writing, in a number of studies in various contexts.
Cued Spelling is a structured method for improving spelling through tutoring by peers, parents, classroom assistants or volunteers. It is individualised and cross-curricular - spellers select and collect the words they need to learn how to spell. Spellings chosen can be in any language, at any level. Cued Spelling can operate successfully on a cross-ability or same-ability basis, fixed-role or reciprocal-role. It can be done with selected individuals or on a whole class basis.
Implemented properly, Cued Spelling has been proven in primary schools to improve spelling competence - on words tutored and in general (i.e. on words not tutored), in a number of studies in various contexts.
